The Film
Prefontaine stars Jared Leto as Steve Prefontaine, the charismatic Oregon distance runner whose front-running style and rebellious spirit made him America's most exciting track athlete before his death at 24. Director Steve James (Hoop Dreams) brings documentary realism to the biopic. Leto captures Prefontaine's cocky fire and his principled stand against the amateur athletics system.
