The economics work like this: charge $150-500/month for ongoing coaching (weekly or bi-weekly sessions), and target 5-15 active clients. At $200/month with 10 clients, you are at $2,000/month. The clients who get results refer their friends. The referral flywheel is the entire marketing strategy for successful life coaches.

Here is the no-BS take: do not become a life coach if your own life is a mess. Clients can smell inauthenticity. The best life coaches have navigated significant personal challenges, built something meaningful, and can articulate the frameworks they used to do it. Certification (ICF, iPEC) adds credibility and structure, but it is not strictly required. What is required is genuine expertise in helping people change.
