Why It Ranks

Wrath of Man is Ritchie’s darkest film and Statham’s most controlled performance. The non-linear structure keeps the audience guessing, the heist sequences are expertly staged, and the restrained tone is a welcome departure for both director and star.

The Film

Wrath of Man is Guy Ritchie at his most restrained and Jason Statham at his coldest. A remake of the French film Cash Truck, the film follows a mysterious new armored truck guard whose skills far exceed the job’s requirements. Ritchie structures the story as a Rashomon-style puzzle, replaying the same heist from multiple perspectives, each revealing new information. Statham’s controlled menace is the film’s engine — he barely speaks, never smiles, and dispatches enemies with mechanical precision. The final armored truck heist is a large-scale set piece that showcases Ritchie’s ability to orchestrate complex action across multiple timelines and locations.

Fun Facts

The film is a remake of the 2004 French film Le Convoyeur (Cash Truck).

Guy Ritchie deliberately stripped away his usual humor and stylistic flourishes for a darker tone.

Statham and Ritchie had previously collaborated on Revolver and have one of the longest actor-director partnerships in British action cinema.

Post Malone has a small role as one of the heist crew members.
