Shooter

Shooter is the definitive sniper action thriller: Mark Wahlberg plays Bob Lee Swagger, an expert Marine sniper framed for an assassination attempt on the President who must use his tactical skills to clear his name and expose a government conspiracy. Antoine Fuqua directs the rifle sequences with meticulous attention to ballistic detail — windage, elevation, Coriolis effect — and Wahlberg’s preparation (training with real military snipers) gives the shooting scenes an authenticity that armchair tacticians appreciate. The Appalachian mountain pursuit and the final courtroom-to-cabin revenge sequence are satisfying genre payoffs, and Michael Peña’s FBI agent provides a strong moral compass.
