These are poor millionaires. They believe in paying in cash. They don’t know how to make millions in just a few years from nothing. They’ve worked really hard and spend very little their whole lives.
Congratulations on saving a million dollars by putting your life on hold while it was in its prime. This is doable and I applaud the author of this article for her savvy title of reasons to give up on becoming a millionaire because all of these ways are terribly unattractive to me as well. Do I have a million dollars right now? No. Do I know what it takes to make a million dollars? Yes. I’ve done that in a year or two. Right now I think I’m at something like $160K… probably after losing $300K YTD… Who knows, not really worried about it because I’m on my way up and this is just shakey shakey and I’m not afraid of the shake.
You wanna be a millionaire? You don’t need to give up fancy cars. You don’t need to give up going faster than you can drive your fancy cars. You can fly. You don’t need to live beneath your means as your sole existence. You can actually increase your means. And, I’m a supporter and so is Ramit Sethi and Tim Ferriss (my bras), of the philsophical predisposition that you should focus on making and not saving. Make the rules you live by. Make you existence fun. Make it big. Make it awesome. Set out to make it for yourself. Make something of yourself. Make it yourself. Make yourself up and go.
No need to live in inhospitable houses.
You do not need to give up traveling the world, hitting up a restaurant, movie or vacation. You do not need to love your home, but you can, you just don’t need to give up that which you value most. You need to rather, redefine that what it is that you value most in the context of what other people value and look harder and make considerations effectively as you see the opportunity to do so.
All that it takes to make a million dollars is whatever it takes. People who give up everything they want in order to achieve it don’t see a better way when there clearly is one right there for those of you willing to make your lives easier. Get other people to help you out and help themselves out in the process. Be proud.
